Los Angeles, CA – On a breezy, gray-skied day in Los Angeles, the sibling duo Brandon and Savannah from Between Friends sat down with Medicine Box for a deeply engaging conversation. This exclusive interview offered insights into their latest EP, their innovative fashion initiative "Garage Sale," and their personal and artistic growth.

The Birth of "Garage Sale": A Fashion Forward Initiative
Amid challenges with their previous merchandiser, Between Friends created a unique fashion line emphasizing sustainability. "Yeah, essentially we had this whole situation with our merch company where they went bankrupt last year... We came up with this idea a while ago, and the timing just ended up being perfect... Yeah, and it's a little collection called Garage Sale,” Savannah explained.
Their approach to fashion is as unique as their music, focusing on one-of-one vintage pieces. Brandon shared, “It’s also good for the environment and it’s fun to thrift, hopefully everyone loves it. We're actually wearing it... 70 pieces all one-of-one."

Crafting a Distinctive Sonic Identity
Discussing their latest EP, Brandon highlighted the evolution of their music, "It's like, we have a sonic world and I think all of our stuff will live in that sonic world but I don't think that what we're doing now really feels like anything we've done before which is nice, you know, which is good, it feels good to feel like we're trying something new."
The siblings described their creative process as free and spontaneous, a reflection of their commitment to authenticity. "We're making a lot more music right now, and even that group of music we're making right now doesn't sound even like it. Like, everything sort of just like spur of the moment with us. Create freely and like I think that our listeners connect with that because there's never one feeling, theres always thousands of feelings.” Savannah added.
Reflecting on Roots and Aspirations
The conversation took a nostalgic turn as the siblings reflected on their diverse upbringing and its impact on their music. “Like, I think it molded us in a certain way, that, like, we don't feel like... like true L.A. kids, but we don't feel like true anywhere kids. We're kind of just like existing.” Savannah noted.
Their upcoming European tour symbolizes a milestone, encapsulating their dreams and career aspirations. Savannah expressed their excitement, "I think it's the most amazing thing in the world. You know, something that you fantasize about your entire careers. Leaving the states and playing music with people somewhere else.”

A Sincere Thank You to the Fans
Concluding the interview, Between Friends expressed deep gratitude toward their fans and Medicine Box readers. “Oh, we're grateful. Thanks so much for taking time out of your day to read this article and watch us and look at the pictures and check out the music. If you like it, come see us,” they said, inviting fans to continue engaging with their evolving journey.
This comprehensive discussion with Between Friends not only showcased their innovative approach to music and fashion but also highlighted their genuine connection with their audience. As they continue to push the boundaries of creativity, Between Friends remains a seminal force in the indie music and sustainable fashion scenes.
